About the position

The Renewable Energy Designer/Project Manager at Turpin & Rattan Engineering, Inc. is responsible for managing and designing commercial renewable energy systems, specifically focusing on PV solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role involves collaborating with clients and internal teams to ensure project deliverables meet industry standards while fostering a supportive and innovative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the scope of services, including preparing conceptual designs, project deliverables, construction administration, and project closeout.
  • Work in collaboration with Clients and Owners to develop project scope and goals.
  • Select and specify the appropriate equipment (PV modules, inverters, DAS).
  • Locate and lay out that equipment for the specific job site.
  • Configure the system DC and AC one-line diagram to the point of connection in coordination with the electrical engineer.
  • Provide all related calculations and necessary PV specific details.
  • Manage the Interconnection Application (IA) process with the serving utility company.
  • Ensure all projects are compliant with industry standards and regulations.
  • Coordinate technical aspects of the design with the structural, civil, electrical, technology, and architectural teams.
  • Conduct site inspections and project progress meetings regularly.
  • Coordinate on project proposals and RFP development.
  • Adhere to project budget and schedule requirements.
  • Exceed client expectations.

Requirements

  • Five (+5) years of project management experience in the design of PV solar and BESS systems.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate a team to complete project deliverables while exceeding client expectations.
  • Proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD.
  • Proficient in Revit BIM software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software suite (Outlook, Word, Etc.).
  • Strong desire to work with team members and maintain client relationships.
  • Demonstrated previous success with project design from inception to completion.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to perform financial and technical energy feasibility studies.
  • Energy modeling and data analysis for evaluating energy efficient measures.
  • Experience with commissioning.
  • Interest in developing the firm's sustainable marketability.
