About the position

The Renewable Generation Manager at Black Hills Energy is responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of the company's renewable energy fleet, which includes Vestas and GE turbines across multiple wind farms. This role involves managing contracts, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards, and developing budgets for maintenance and capital projects. The manager will also serve as the primary contact for landowners and contractors, ensuring effective communication and adherence to policies.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day implementation of contracts related to renewable energy operations.
• Direct supervision of contractors to ensure compliance with safety and operational policies.
• Develop and oversee capital, major maintenance, and O&M budgets.
• Ensure compliance with NERC, OSHA, and State Health Department regulations.
• Communicate and enforce safe work practices among employees and contractors.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for landowners and contractors.
• Oversee 24x7 generation operations and provide monthly data reporting for renewable generation facilities.
• Assist with the construction and commissioning of new renewable energy projects.
• Assist with project bids and evaluations for new facilities.
• Audit turbine quality on a monthly basis.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of renewable power generation experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience.
• Demonstrated technical, financial, and operational expertise.
• Ability to manage a large geographic area and multiple locations.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Vestas and/or GE turbine technology.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team.
• Strong understanding of MS Office and personal computer use.
• Proven leadership skills including coaching and motivating.
• Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of best maintenance practices.
• Skilled in contract negotiation and management.
• Knowledge of safety practices in power plant environments.
• Strong technical skills related to wind turbines and a desire to learn about solar and battery storage.
