About the position

The Renewable Generation Manager at Black Hills Energy is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the company's renewable energy fleet, which includes Vestas and GE turbines across multiple wind farms. This role involves overseeing safety programs, establishing effective operations and maintenance protocols, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The manager will also serve as the primary contact for landowners and contractors, and will be involved in the construction and commissioning of new renewable energy projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day implementation of contracts related to the operation and maintenance of renewable energy fleet.
  • Establish an effective operations and maintenance program for balance of plant equipment.
  • Oversee safety programs and ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Create, track, and report on budgets for capital, major maintenance, and O&M.
  • Direct supervision of contractors to maximize safety, compliance, and production.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for landowners and contractors.
  • Provide monthly data reporting for all renewable generation facilities.
  • Assist with overseeing the construction and commissioning progress of new renewable energy projects.
  • Audit turbine quality on a monthly basis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of renewable power generation experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated technical, financial, and operational expertise.
  • Ability to manage a large geographic area and multiple locations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with Vestas and/or GE turbine technology.
  • Demonstrated ability in effectively leading a team.
  • Strong understanding of the use of personal computers & MS Office.
  • Proven leadership skills including coaching and motivating.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of best maintenance practices.
  • Skilled in contract negotiation and management.
  • Knowledge of best safety practices in power plant environments.
