About the position

The Renewable Power Consultant at 1898 & Co. will leverage extensive knowledge in the renewable generation industry to assist clients in evaluating renewable generation assets. This role encompasses a wide array of studies and consulting services aimed at empowering clients to make informed decisions through comprehensive business and engineering analyses. The consultant will play a pivotal role in executing technical studies and collaborating with project managers to ensure the successful technical execution of various projects. Key responsibilities include performing a broad range of studies, engineering tasks, and consulting services that support the development, analysis, design, and construction of renewable energy projects. This includes conducting site selection and feasibility studies, providing Owner's Engineer support, and executing independent engineering assessments. The consultant will also be responsible for analyzing data and interpreting engineering, financial, and economic conditions, along with their implications for client projects. In addition, the consultant will analyze life-cycle costs by developing and incorporating technical assumptions related to capital costs, operation and maintenance costs, performance estimates, and economic forecasts. Conducting technical and business-related risk assessments to evaluate the impacts of regulatory agency rules is also a critical aspect of this role. The consultant will develop and conduct detailed financial analyses using various computer-based software, and will be tasked with creating technical reports and presentations that summarize the results of their analyses. Furthermore, the consultant will assist project managers in business development activities, including proposal development and fostering client relationships. Mentoring and training other employees on both technical and business aspects of projects and the renewable energy industry will also be part of the role. The consultant will support various business lines as required by clients and will perform other duties as assigned, ensuring compliance with all company policies and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a broad range of studies, engineering, and consulting services to support renewable energy projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited program and 3 years of experience, or a Master's Degree in Engineering or Business and 2 years of experience.
  • Prior experience in electric utility operations, planning, or consulting.
  • Experience in the development, design, and construction of renewable generation facilities, particularly wind and solar.
  • Ability to execute various renewable energy studies.
  • Knowledge of standard engineering, construction, and operation techniques for renewable power generation facilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work methodically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to train a team of consultants.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PPT).
  • Willingness to learn new service offerings as client needs evolve.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.
