About the position

The repairer will assist the craftsman and/or independently perform basic maintenance, construction, repair or mechanical adjustment work involved in varied types of buildings, building facilities and/or building utilities; does other related duties as required.

Responsibilities

• Works independently or as a member of a group in the painting of wood, metal, brick, and cement walls, floors, and ceilings of the interior and exterior of buildings.
• Stains, varnishes and refinishes cabinets, desks, chairs and other furnishings and equipment.
• Repairs and maintains walls, ceilings, interior and exterior brickwork, tile floors, drains, cement and concrete floors, sidewalks, steps, foundations, and other types of masonry, plastering, and stonework.
• Repairs and maintains water, drainage, waste and gas lines; toilet bowls, wash basins, and urinals; and radiators, refrigerators, laundry machines, and other types of plumbing and steam fitting fixtures.
• Repairs and maintains buildings, office furniture, screens, storm sashes, frames, windows, ceilings, partitions, and other types of carpentry work.
• Installs, inspects, repairs, and maintains cables, wiring, motors, generators, pumps, refrigerators, radios, sound equipment, telephone line switchboards, oil burners and other types of electrical equipment.
• Repairs and maintains copper leaders and gutters and slate roofs including the operations of flashing, papering, cutting, and punching prior to installation of slate.
• Cleans and repairs boilers, repairs locks, and maintains automobiles, trucks, snowplows, and sand spreaders.
• Uses pneumatic tools, air compressors, jackhammers, pavement breakers, concrete mixers, and excavation equipment.
• Obtains, stores, safeguards, and properly uses equipment, materials, supplies, and tools.
• Keeps records of work done, materials used, and time spent.

Requirements

• One (1) year of work experience involving the inspection, repair and general maintenance of household, office and other equipment, fixtures, fittings, appliances, machinery, furnishings and buildings.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in installation, adjustment, maintenance, repair and replacement of all types of locks and integrated security systems, access control devices and other type of lock hardware.
