About the position

KX News is seeking a fun, dynamic, and energetic Multimedia Journalist Reporter to join our team in Bismarck, ND. This role involves producing, reporting, shooting, writing, voicing, editing, and feeding news production content across all platforms. The ideal candidate will engage news consumers with clear and meaningful content, ensuring that all stories are presented in an engaging manner. The Multimedia Journalist Reporter will be responsible for reporting news stories for broadcast, providing detailed descriptions of events, and arranging interviews with individuals who can provide valuable information about the stories being covered. In this position, the journalist will review and correct errors in content, grammar, and punctuation, adhering to prescribed editorial style and formatting guidelines. They will evaluate notes taken during events to isolate pertinent facts and details, determining the emphasis, length, and format of stories while organizing material accordingly. Researching and analyzing background information related to news stories is crucial to provide complete and accurate information. The journalist will gather information through research, interviews, and attendance at various functions, including political, news, sports, artistic, and social events. The Multimedia Journalist Reporter will pitch relevant stories to news managers and producers, receive assignments, and evaluate leads and tips to develop story ideas. They will discuss issues with producers and news managers to establish priorities and positions, check reference materials for relevant facts, and revise work to meet editorial approval or fit time requirements. Additionally, the journalist will shoot and edit news events and reports, produce and present reports for all platforms, and ensure that all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality. They will also write stories for the web and other eMedia platforms, interact with viewers and users on social media, and perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Check reference materials such as books, news files, or public records to obtain relevant facts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to ad lib when required.
  • Superior on-air presence.
  • Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Flexibility to work any shift.
