About the position

The Patient Financial Services Representative (PFSR) serves as the first point of contact for patients and guarantors in various healthcare settings. This role is crucial in gathering and verifying demographic, financial, and insurance information to ensure a smooth patient experience. The PFSR is responsible for explaining policies, obtaining necessary signatures, and providing exceptional customer service while addressing patient inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and guarantors in the hospital or medical office setting.
• Obtain and verify demographic, financial, and insurance eligibility information.
• Ensure all required notices and consent forms are signed accordingly.
• Perform patient discharge functions, including reviewing after visit summaries and scheduling future appointments.
• Explain policies and secure required signatures for regulatory and financial consent forms.
• Obtain pre-certification and authorization for services.
• Collect patient out-of-pocket responsibilities per collection guidelines.
• Provide patient estimates as requested and prepare daily deposit of payment collections.
• Schedule walk-in appointments for services offered.
• Interview patients and guarantors to obtain necessary information, including identification cards.
• Guide patients to appropriate destinations for services and confirm physician and prescription orders.
• Verify insurance benefits and determine correct insurance filing order.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required).
• Excellent communication skills and critical thinking abilities.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
• No experience required; one year of related hospital, medical office, or customer service experience preferred.
