The Arc Montgomery County is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Representative Payee & Benefits Coordinator to join our Community Living Division. This role is crucial in providing a complex level of coordination and support, requiring sound judgment and discretion. The Representative Payee & Benefits Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining the financial records of individuals supported by our team, ensuring that all programmatic functions and benefits are coordinated effectively. This position is essential for the seamless operation of our Community Living services, acting as a liaison to secure entitlements for the individuals we support. In this role, you will engage with various governmental benefits, including Social Security disability benefits, Medical Assistance, Medicare benefits, SNAP, ABLE, and DDA waivers. Your expertise will help navigate the complexities of these programs, ensuring that our clients receive the support they need. You will also be responsible for administrative tasks that require strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in MS Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and will possess proven coordination and administrative skills. The Representative Payee & Benefits Coordinator will work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong written communication skills and attention to detail. Responsibilities

  • Maintain financial records for individuals supported in the Community Living Division.
  • Coordinate and manage various programmatic functions and benefits essential to Community Living operations.
  • Act as a liaison to ensure entitlements for individuals supported by the Community Living team.
  • Navigate and apply knowledge of Social Security disability benefits, Medical Assistance, Medicare benefits, SNAP, ABLE, and DDA waivers.
  • Provide administrative support and coordination for multiple individuals.
  • Utilize MS Office applications effectively to manage documentation and communication.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus two (2) years of relevant professional experience; OR an A.A. degree plus four (4) years of relevant professional experience; OR a high school diploma or GED equivalency plus six (6) years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Social Security disability benefits, Medical Assistance, Medicare benefits, SNAP, ABLE, and DDA waivers.
  • Proven coordination and administrative skills with strong written grammar and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification as a SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance) & SSI (Supplemental Security Income) benefits specialist within 180 calendar days of employment.
