About the position

The Research Administrator III/IV at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center plays a crucial role in supporting faculty and personnel in the Clinical Research Division by managing grants and contracts, overseeing budgets, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This position involves collaboration with various stakeholders to facilitate research administration and operational efficiency, contributing to the center's mission of advancing cancer treatment and research.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall Research Administration support to assigned faculty based on their research interests and goals.
  • Lead grant submissions and post-award activities, including creating timelines and completing technical portions of submissions.
  • Review budgets, identify discrepancies, and provide recommendations to resolve issues with stakeholders.
  • Prepare annual progress reports and oversee sub-award management.
  • Monitor project budgets to ensure compliance with grant/contract guidelines and institutional policies.
  • Build and oversee budgets and financial projections for faculty portfolios.
  • Manage administrative tasks such as travel coordination and editing of academic materials.
  • Prepare and advise on regulatory applications and submissions, including IRB and IACUC applications.
  • Participate in team activities and provide coverage for team members as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 3 years of relevant experience for Research Administrator III.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience managing federal and/or non-federal sponsored research for Research Administrator III.
  • Bachelor's degree or 3-4 years of relevant experience for Research Administrator IV, plus 3 years of experience managing sponsored research.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Research Administrator or Certified Clinical Research Professional.
  • Four years of relevant experience in research administration.
  • Prior supervisory experience and experience with financial management systems.
  • Proficient in fiscal and budgetary management and understanding of accounting terminology.
  • Experience with NIH grants and industry-sponsored clinical trials.
  • Familiarity with WorkDay, CLICK products, EPIC, and/or OnCore.
