About the position

The Research Analyst 1 (Lottery Specialist 1) position at the Pennsylvania Lottery involves supporting the Research Division by conducting routine reporting, basic sales analysis, and data management. The role is crucial in identifying trends, making recommendations for product improvements, and evaluating the effectiveness of current programs. This position plays a key role in generating funding to benefit older Pennsylvanians through the Lottery's operations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research to identify trends and make recommendations for promotions and improvements to the Lottery's product portfolio.
  • Participate in systems analysis and operational research studies to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of current programs, policies, and systems.
  • Gather data from extensive sales reports and other sources to monitor individual game sales performance.
  • Analyze sales and promotional activity to identify successful or underperforming Lottery products or marketing strategies.
  • Draft reports of findings including recommendations to increase sales and new game marketing techniques.
  • Maintain analytical reports for marketing, products, retail operations, and the executive office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in data science, data analytics, economics, or statistics/mathematics.
  • One year of professional experience in marketing, advertising, sales, or merchandising; or five years of experience in managing a retail business or servicing retail sales accounts.
  • Experience in data analysis, data modeling, and data visualization.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Tableau.
  • Experience working in the lottery or gaming industry.
  • Valid driver's license.

  • Experience in marketing communications and product research.
  • Familiarity with retail sales strategies.
