The Global Poverty Research Lab (GPRL) at Northwestern University is a research center dedicated to generating empirical evidence on the effectiveness of policies and programs across various regions, including the Americas, sub-Saharan Africa, China, and Southeast Asia. The lab focuses on the intersection of poverty with diverse topics such as finance, entrepreneurship, education, gender, psychological well-being, agriculture, and the environment. GPRL aims to enhance research quality and output by establishing a common infrastructure for collaborative research and policy work. This includes geographic research clusters in Ghana and the Philippines that collect long-term panel data on economic and social outcomes, as well as a research cluster in China that promotes rigorous empirical research on the Chinese economy. GPRL is currently seeking several full-time research analysts to contribute to projects related to social protection, cognitive behavioral therapy, rainfall insurance, agricultural extension services, the role of social networks in the labor market, and women's mobility. This position provides an excellent opportunity for individuals to gain hands-on experience in study design, data management, and analysis, as well as project management. Analysts will be involved in cleaning and preparing datasets, conducting advanced statistical analyses, assisting with project development, and disseminating findings. The role also includes presenting analyses to investigators, conducting literature reviews, and supporting data collection and monitoring processes. Additionally, analysts may supervise undergraduate research assistants and contribute to lab-wide management tasks, including mentoring and creating training resources.
