The Oregon State Police is seeking multiple full-time Research Analyst 2 positions within the Firearm Instant Check Unit located in Salem, Oregon. This role is critical in determining whether individuals may purchase firearms in accordance with Oregon and Federal laws, rules, and policies. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting these laws and regulations to support the state Firearms Instant Check System (FICS) program. This includes making timely and accurate decisions regarding the approval or disqualification of firearm transfers for federally licensed firearm dealers (FFLs) and private parties, utilizing various databases and fingerprint-based criminal history files.
