About the position

The Research Analyst position at the Chong Lab within the University of Chicago's Department of Surgery focuses on supporting scientific research projects related to transplantation. The role involves ensuring compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives, and mandates. The Research Analyst will be responsible for analyzing data, maintaining specimens, and conducting literature reviews. The successful candidate will maintain technical and administrative support for research projects, which includes recruiting and scheduling research subjects, developing or amending study protocols, and building databases. The role also involves performing experiments under the direction of the principal investigator and interacting with students and other laboratory staff. A general awareness of research techniques, regulatory policies, and the relevant scientific field is essential. This position is critical to the ongoing work in the Chong Lab, which is known for its contributions to transplantation tolerance and clinical trials in islet cell transplantation for diabetes. The Research Analyst will play a vital role in advancing the lab's research objectives and ensuring the integrity of the research process.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.
  • Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens. Conducts literature reviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.
  • Installs, sets up and performs experiments; interacting with students and other laboratory staff under the direction of the principal investigator.
  • Maintains recruiting and scheduling research subjects; assisting with developing or amending study protocols; assisting with developing data collection tools; assisting with building databases; and providing general administrative support.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in a related field.
  • Knowledge and skills developed through relevant work experience.
