About the position

LMI is seeking a Research Analyst for on-site work in the National Capital Region. This position is part of the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering's Rapid Defense Experimentation Reserve (RDER) initiative, which focuses on accelerating technologies through the development pipeline from prototypes to validated military capabilities. The RDER initiative is responsible for verifying the production readiness and operational utility of prototypes and recommending the most promising technologies for production. As such, the Research Analyst will play a critical role in supporting various analyses related to Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leadership and Education, Personnel, Facilities, and Policy (DOTMLPF-P) for RDER projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong research skills, knowing how and where to acquire information about Department of Defense (DoD) technologies, training, experiments, organizations, and doctrine. They will also have strong analytical abilities, enabling them to identify trends and draw conclusions from data. The Research Analyst will be responsible for preparing finished analytical products, including briefings and technical reports, and must be willing to travel to and/or work from government facilities in the National Capital Region, such as the Pentagon and Mark Center. Some travel outside the National Capital Region may also be required to attend events and interview stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Support Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leadership and Education, Personnel, Facilities, and Policy (DOTMLPF-P) risk-to-transition analyses for RDER projects.
  • Conduct research and analysis of written materials and through interviews.
  • Identify trends and draw conclusions from data.
  • Prepare finished analytical products, including briefings and technical reports.
  • Travel to and/or work from government facilities in the National Capital Region, including the Pentagon and Mark Center.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a field that requires research and writing.
  • 3-6 years of experience conducting research and analysis of written materials and through interviews.
  • Demonstrable advanced research, critical thinking, analysis, and writing experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and willing to work as part of a team.
  • Active Top Secret or TS clearance with SCI eligibility.
