About the position

The Contingent Research Analyst position at ISS involves working within a regional team to assist clients in developing and implementing customized corporate governance guidelines. This temporary role, based in Rockville, MD, is designed for a term starting in January 2025 and ending in May/June 2025, with the potential for overtime and weekend work during peak periods. The analyst will conduct governance research, provide proxy vote recommendations, and support various client-specific projects, all while contributing to process improvements and maintaining timely deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Complete basic and advanced analytical governance research of specific meetings and companies
  • Distill financial and corporate governance information and issue proxy vote recommendations based on client specific policy guidelines
  • Complete client specific reports and/or policy related projects
  • Research policy-related issues and support staff in their completion of such projects
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and opportunities to enhance the department's service offering
  • Assist the team with supervision of projects/tasks from time to time as needed
  • Manage work allocation and maintain timeliness of client deliverables

Requirements

  • Bachelor´s degree and/or Master's degree in finance, economics, law, or equivalent
  • Preferably experience in a related field such as finance, research, or law
  • Ability to make a commitment to working the duration of the assignment
  • Proven ability to exercise superior judgment
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, a dedicated work ethic, and the ability to multi-task in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
  • Work effectively with clients and colleagues at various levels across staff and function lines
  • Experience providing innovative solutions to processes and problems
  • Excellent writing and research abilities, proofreading skills, and well-developed oral and written communication skills
  • Strong computer literacy with previous experience
  • Excellent skills in MS Office and Excel a plus
  • Preferred familiarity with corporate governance issues, corporate transactions, capital markets, and SEC filings
  • Preferred knowledge or competency in corporate governance
  • Solid understanding of business technology and experience working with technology in an operational context strongly desired
