The primary purpose of this position is to teach the PGY-1 Medical Research and Quality Improvement course and to guide the Department of Medicine resident research program. The incumbent will facilitate and expedite project completion primarily for residents but may also assist undergraduate and medical students, fellows, and faculty. This includes coordination and assistance with IRB protocols, abstracts, case reports, chart reviews, surveys, posters, review articles, quality improvement, and clinical research projects. At WVU Research Corporation, we strongly believe in work-life balance and keeping time for things we love outside our work. The Research Analyst will manage projects, meet regularly with residents and others developing research and quality improvement (QI) projects, and coordinate the longitudinal Resident QI/Research curriculum. The incumbent will serve on the planning team to improve the research curriculum and provide mentorship to residents and other researchers in the department regarding proposal development, including protocol-specific tools, documentation, data capture and verification using electronic medical record systems and REDCap, project implementation, data analysis, and presentation and dissemination of results at seminars and professional meetings and in the peer-reviewed medical literature. This position requires both an understanding of technology and management skills to help organize and facilitate proposed projects. The Research Analyst will advance research in the Department of Medicine as the point of contact for all residents to obtain guidance with investigator-initiated research. Additionally, the incumbent will assist the Vice Chair of Medicine for Research to promote and support clinical research, including helping to coordinate the annual Department of Medicine Research Day and all other research initiatives. The incumbent will also participate as co-investigator in proposals for internal and external funding that require specific research expertise and experience, such as mixed methods approaches.
