About the position

The Research Analyst for Direct Admissions at the State of Minnesota will play a pivotal role in supporting the Direct Admissions program, which guarantees admissions for eligible students. This position involves a variety of responsibilities including administrative and data coordination assistance to the Direct Admissions manager, as well as collaboration with participating high schools, colleges, and universities. The analyst will be responsible for participant training, process documentation, and the development of communications and data products related to the program. Additionally, the role includes supporting document and data preparation for research, program data collection, evaluation, and reporting, as well as handling ad hoc data requests. The incumbent will also assist in the development and implementation of student surveys and focus groups, and will prepare presentations and articles that discuss the outcomes of the Direct Admissions program. A key aspect of this role is facilitating data transfer between participating institutions while adhering to all applicable data sharing agreements and data privacy requirements. Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and data coordination assistance to the Direct Admissions manager.
  • Assist in participant training and process documentation.
  • Develop communications and data products related to the Direct Admissions program.
  • Support document and data preparation for research and program data collection.
  • Assist in the evaluation and reporting of program outcomes and ad hoc data requests.
  • Help develop and implement student surveys and focus groups.
  • Prepare presentations and articles about Direct Admissions outcomes.
  • Facilitate data transfer between participating institutions while following data sharing agreements.

Requirements

  • One (1) year experience with collection, evaluation, and assessment of data related to Direct Admissions or other proactive admissions program models.
  • One (1) year experience with evaluation, cleaning, and troubleshooting data for transfer under data sharing agreements.
  • One (1) year experience in leading or assisting with development of communication plans for a diverse audience.
  • One (1) year experience creating data visualizations, tables, or other visual means of presenting data accurately and in a plain language manner.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and diversity in a professional setting.

Nice-to-haves

  • One (1) year experience working with software systems such as Infinite Campus, jmc, Parchment, PowerSchool, or Skyward.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of SQL programming language.
  • Knowledge of social science research methods, particularly with regard to literature reviews, environment scans, surveys, interviews, and evaluation methods.
  • Bachelor's degree in statistics, library science or closely related field.
