About the position

The Research Analyst position at Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) involves researching environmental and social issue proposals for shareholder meetings of publicly traded companies, primarily in the U.S. The role requires the completion of written analyses detailing vote recommendations based on ISS policy guidelines, and it offers an opportunity to develop knowledge in corporate sustainability issues. The position is set to start in February 2025 and end in May/June 2025, with interviews beginning in November.

Responsibilities

  • Complete written analyses detailing ISS vote recommendations and rationale on relevant agenda items based on ISS' policy guidelines.
  • Develop knowledge of corporate environmental and social sustainability issues, including human rights, human capital management, animal welfare, climate change, and sustainability reporting.
  • Build an understanding of the role of the board of directors in assessing and mitigating risks related to environmental and social issues.
  • Engage with representatives from corporations, institutional investors, and other market players.
  • Answer queries on research analyses, and discuss policies and vote recommendations as needed.
  • Perform other research-related work and duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, plus relevant work experience preferred in business, corporate social and environmental issues, or other corporate fields.
  • Strong analytical abilities.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, a dedicated work ethic, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to work long hours and weekends during peak weeks (approx. March through June).
