About the position

The Research Analyst in Evidence Based Medicine plays a crucial role in advancing clinical practice through rigorous research and analysis. This position involves developing clinical practice guidelines, conducting systematic literature reviews, and performing statistical analyses to inform clinical decisions. The analyst will work collaboratively with a team to deliver reliable information that enhances patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the development of clinical practice guidelines, systematic literature reviews, technology overviews, and appropriate use criteria.
  • Critically evaluates published studies and abstracts information from these studies.
  • Uses applicable statistical methods to analyze evidence from studies and prepares written commentaries and clinical scenarios for physician work groups.
  • Produces professional reports for publication of AAOS Appropriate Use Criteria, Technology Overviews, systematic literature reviews, and Clinical Practice Guidelines.
  • Critically evaluates the quality, conduct, and analysis of published clinical research studies.
  • Abstracts information/data from peer-reviewed clinical research studies to create literature reviews.
  • Performs statistical analysis (meta-analysis) and statistical re-analysis of results reported in the published literature.
  • Communicates the strengths and weaknesses of clinical studies and prepares evidence summary reports.
  • Provides technical and administrative support at work group meetings/conference calls.
  • Responds to feedback from work group members and corrects errors noted in data abstraction.
  • Maintains current knowledge of appropriateness and quantitative methods, including peer-reviewed literature.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in the health or life sciences.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly with Word, Excel, and Power BI.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and critically evaluate the design, conduct, and analysis of clinical studies.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods (e.g., t-tests, chi square, ANOVAs).
  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend articles published in peer-reviewed medical journals.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least one year of previous experience in preparing systematic literature reviews.
  • Experienced in the use of STATA, SPSS, or SAS statistical software packages.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based medicine processes, RAND/UCLA Appropriateness Method or other Delphi methods.
  • Familiarity with survey research methods and analysis.
