About the position

The Research Analyst I position at Duke University involves performing technical duties related to the collection, compilation, and management of statistical data in support of the National Data Archive on Child Abuse and Neglect (NDACAN). The role requires intermediate statistical and technical skills, with a focus on data analysis and support for data users. The analyst will work independently as part of a research team, maintaining organized documentation and participating in the development of data management procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical duties in the collection, compilation, and management of statistical data.
  • Provide direct support to NDACAN data users and general inquiries.
  • Maintain datasets, codebooks, and user guides for data holdings.
  • Participate in the development of operations and procedures for data collection and management.
  • Operate statistical analysis software for data management and analysis, including SQL, R, Stata, SPSS, or SAS.
  • Prepare written reports and oral presentations summarizing data analysis and findings.
  • Interpret findings and provide conclusions and recommendations.
  • Keep organized documentation and reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in statistics, (bio)statistics, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience in research/data analysis or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with statistical software such as SAS, R, Stata, SPSS, and SQL.
