About the position

The Research Analyst II position at the Center for Advanced Hindsight (CAH) at Duke University is a mid-level research role that involves conducting behavioral science research with a focus on decision-making processes. This position is grant-funded for one year, with the potential for renewal based on funding availability and other factors. The Research Analyst II will work under some oversight, providing mentorship to junior staff while also being responsible for leading smaller projects independently. The role requires a strong understanding of behavioral science principles and the ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish. In this role, the Research Analyst II will independently lead research studies, which includes conducting literature reviews to identify gaps in existing research, generating new hypotheses, and contributing to study designs. They will ensure that all studies are conducted with fidelity and may be responsible for data analysis, drawing conclusions from study results, and drafting manuscripts for academic publication. Additionally, they will write Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications to ensure compliance with ethical standards in research. The Research Analyst II will also provide support to research studies by programming studies in Qualtrics, creating study materials, and developing research protocols for both lab and field experiments. They will train research experimenters or coordinators who are responsible for recruiting participants and running lab studies. Furthermore, the role involves managing relationships with partners and sponsors, ensuring that their expectations are met, and identifying new research opportunities. Project management is also a key responsibility, ensuring that project components are scheduled appropriately and delivered on time. Responsibilities

  • Independently lead research studies, including conducting literature reviews and generating new hypotheses.
  • Contribute to hypothesis generation for field and lab studies and assist in study designs.
  • Ensure all studies are conducted with fidelity and may conduct data analysis with supervision.
  • Draft manuscripts for academic publication and write IRB applications as needed.
  • Program studies in Qualtrics and create study materials such as mailers and prompts.
  • Create research protocols for lab and field experiments and train research experimenters or coordinators.
  • Manage relationships with partners and sponsors, ensuring expectations are met and identifying new research opportunities.
  • Provide project management to ensure timely delivery of project components and take notes during meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to behavioral science; Master's degree strongly preferred.
  • 3-6 years of research experience since earning a bachelor's degree.
  • Familiarity with all research processes and some familiarity with statistics.
  • Strong understanding of behavioral science principles.
  • Ability to speak and write coherently in English and Spanish.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and build relationships with individuals at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple collaborations and research projects.
