About the position

The Research Analyst II position at Duke University School of Medicine involves leading, coordinating, and performing a variety of complex independent and team activities related to the design, collection, analysis, documentation, and interpretation of both quantitative and qualitative data in the fields of social, economic, or health-related research. This role is crucial in synthesizing and translating complex information from diverse sources into clear and accessible written materials tailored for various audiences. The analyst will be responsible for establishing work procedures, selecting appropriate sources of information, and preparing correspondence to locate specific data required for research projects. In addition to data collection and analysis, the Research Analyst II will coordinate the development of forms and questionnaires, apply qualitative and quantitative research techniques, and write procedures manuals for data collection and coding. The position also involves training lower-level personnel and supervising their work in data collection and tabulation. The ideal candidate will possess strong research and writing skills, organizational abilities, and experience in project coordination or management. The role requires the ability to interact professionally with senior-level individuals, stakeholders, and organizations, and to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field, with a Master's degree preferred, and a minimum of four years of experience in research or data analysis. Proficiency in standard computing software and familiarity with data analysis programs such as Stata, R, Python, or Nvivo is also required. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is preferred, enhancing the ability to communicate with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a field related to health equity, health policy, public health, or child health; Master's degree preferred.
  • Four years of experience in research/data analysis or a related position.
  • Strong research and writing experience.
  • Strong organizational skills with project coordination or management experience.
  • Policy research skills with the ability to synthesize content from various sources.
  • Basic quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis capabilities.
  • Experience using programs such as Stata, R, Python, or Nvivo preferred.
  • Strong written communication skills to simplify complex information.
  • Ability to interact professionally with senior-level individuals and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficient in standard computing software (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Training or experience in health policy, public policy, health equity, public health, or social sciences preferred.
