About the position

The Research Analyst position at the University of Chicago's Center for the Economics of Human Development (CEHD) involves participating in scientific research projects focused on human capital, labor economics, and the economics of education. The role includes ensuring compliance with regulatory policies, analyzing data, writing reports, and assisting in presentations of research findings. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to innovative research initiatives and gain experience in various aspects of the research process.

Responsibilities

  • Programs in Stata, Python, R, or Matlab to analyze data using econometric tools.
  • Collaborates with research team to develop economic models for projects.
  • Writes and/or proofreads academic papers, reports, and presentations.
  • Cleans and describes data, generating graphs, tables, or other summaries.
  • Writes and/or proofreads grants.
  • Trains and supervises undergraduate research assistants.
  • Responsibly handle confidential data.
  • Transcribes and codes data; develops data collection instruments; presents research; recruits and schedules research subjects.
  • Recognizes abnormal results and varies conditions or procedures to correct problems; sets up and performs experiments.

Requirements

  • Minimum college or university degree in a related field.
  • 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in economics or related quantitative field conferred by Spring 2023.
  • A minimum of one year of research experience with quantitative academic research.
  • Experience programming and working with empirical data.
  • Experience working successfully in stressful environments and problem solving.
  • Proficiency in Stata, LaTeX, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Suite.
  • Experience with R, Matlab, Python helpful.
