About the position

The University of Kentucky is seeking a Research Analyst Principal to join the Markey Cancer Center. This role is integral to providing research histology and immunohistochemistry (IHC) services to various research investigators as part of the Biospecimen and Tissue Procurement Shared Resource Facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of histological tasks, including embedding, sectioning, and staining tissues, as well as performing special stains. Additionally, the role involves developing protocols for IHC and immunofluorescence (IF), creating and sectioning tissue microarrays, and conducting molecular pathology assays such as TUNEL and in situ hybridization. Candidates must demonstrate meticulous record-keeping skills and possess strong general laboratory skills, as they will be required to manage multiple projects simultaneously. This position is fully onsite, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and direct engagement with the research team. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, totaling 40 hours per week. Responsibilities

  • Provide research histology services including embedding, sectioning, and staining of tissues.
  • Perform immunohistochemistry (IHC) and immunofluorescence (IF) including protocol development.

  • Conduct molecular pathology assays such as TUNEL and in situ hybridization.
  • Maintain detailed records of laboratory procedures and results.
  • Manage multiple research projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of related experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Strong skills in histology and laboratory techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree plus six months of experience or a bachelor's degree with equivalent experience preferred.
