The Research Analyst position at West Valley-Mission Community College District is a short-term, temporary role designed to support various research and analysis projects within the college. Additionally, the Research Analyst will provide professional-level technical support to end users and supervisors, ensuring that research findings are effectively communicated and utilized. Assignments for this position are expected to be temporary and hourly, with potential locations at either Mission College in Santa Clara or West Valley College in Saratoga, California. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, although hours may vary based on departmental needs. The hourly wage for this position is set at $49.69, but due to its temporary nature, no additional benefits are provided. The role requires a combination of experience and education that equips the candidate with the necessary knowledge and abilities. A typical qualification includes two years of responsible statistical and research experience, along with a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business administration, public administration, statistics, social science, or computer science. The Research Analyst will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and conducting various administrative and operational analyses, as well as maintaining databases and interpreting research requests. This position also involves collaboration with other departments and providing support for the college planning process, making it a vital role in the institution's research efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, conduct and analyze administrative and operational analysis and studies.
  • Conduct qualitative research and recommend solutions based on findings.
  • Design, develop, and coordinate implementation and evaluation of departmental administrative and operational systems and procedures.
  • Maintain the assigned website and research request work order system; prioritize requests and monitor research office budget.
  • Create and maintain databases from a variety of internal and external sources; monitor development and input of data.
  • Interpret, evaluate and clarify research requests to determine data sources and informational sources.
  • Conduct focus groups and give oral presentations.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve inquiries on external and internal research data from both internal and external sources.
  • Monitor and analyze changes to laws, regulations, and procedures relative to research projects; interpret, explain, and disseminate information on pertinent regulations to administrators, faculty and staff.
  • Provide leadership and coordination of assigned research projects; liaise with other district and/or college departments and divisions, faculty and administrators to ensure updated information is available and presented on the website.
  • Coordinate, review work of, and collaborate with technical and administrative support staff and students.
  • Provide support for college planning process; coordinate information and resources for department administrators and faculty.
  • Prepare, administer, analyze and maintain a variety of college reports and surveys.

Requirements

  • Two years of responsible statistical and research experience.
  • Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration, public administration, statistics, social science, computer science, or a related field.
