About the position

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a Research Analyst, Staff to join our team in College Park, MD. This position is critical in providing technical literacy in key Department of Defense (DOD) technology areas for the Joint Acquisition Protection and Exploitation Cell (JAPEC) within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense, Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)). As a Research Analyst, you will play a vital role in safeguarding our nation's Research & Engineering (R&E) technology ecosystem. You will work alongside a team of driven and highly skilled professionals who are committed to mission success and providing a positive customer experience. This role requires a proactive and organized individual who is eager to grow and perfect their analytical skills while contributing to the protection of our country. In this position, you will serve as an integrator of intelligence products, informing key operations of DOD's partner organizations. You will be at the forefront of breakthrough technology, collaborating across multiple interagency teams to enhance America's approach to safeguarding science and next-generation technology. Your responsibilities will include crosswalking adversary technology status with our nation's current research cadence and progress, ensuring that we remain ahead in the technological landscape. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in STEM, with a minimum of 8 years of experience, and a significant plus for those with experience in space technology. A Secret Clearance is required, with TS/SCI eligibility preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills, a proclivity for literature research and data evaluation, and a strong team orientation are essential for success in this role. You will be expected to be on-site for classified work and meetings, contributing to a culture of empowered accountability where each employee-owner has a meaningful stake in the company's future success.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM field.
  • 8 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Experience in space technology is a significant plus.
  • Secret Clearance required (TS/SCI eligibility preferred).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proclivity for literature research and data evaluation.
  • Strong team orientation and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Proactive and organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in space technology.
