About the position

The IMF is seeking talented individuals for its Research Analyst Program (RAP), which offers recent graduates the opportunity to contribute to important research and analytical projects while gaining valuable experience before pursuing further studies. Participants will support the operational and policy work of Fund economists, engaging in various research activities and data analysis tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and collect information for analytical projects.
  • Access and manipulate macroeconomic data from various sources.
  • Maintain and update economic, financial, and statistical databases.
  • Conduct quantitative data analysis using econometric and statistical tools.
  • Evaluate economic, financial, or statistical relationships in databases.
  • Analyze economic time series data.
  • Design systems to facilitate data transfer between external and in-house databases.
  • Collaborate with economists on various projects and stay updated on economic developments.

Requirements

  • Recent completion of a bachelor's degree in economics, computer science, statistics, mathematics, finance, data science, or a related quantitative field.
  • Cumulative GPA of at least 3.5/4.0 (or equivalent for international diplomas).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and ensure data accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with econometric packages such as STATA, EViews, and MATLAB.
  • Knowledge of programming languages like Python and R is desirable.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau and PowerBI is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degrees in relevant fields with limited professional experience.
  • Working knowledge of Tableau and familiarity with web design.
