About the position

The Bay Area Council Economic Institute is seeking a Research Analyst to join its dynamic economic and policy research team. As part of the Bay Area Council, which advocates for a robust economy and improved quality of life for residents, the Research Analyst will contribute to producing reports that include both quantitative and qualitative assessments of the region's economy. This role involves significant coordination among team members with diverse skills, including industry analysis, data processing, and policy analysis across various sectors. Research Analysts will collaborate with colleagues to produce reports, presentations, and other materials, leading specific tasks within projects. They will be involved in all stages of project development, from data collection to narrative development, and will have opportunities to contribute ideas and work independently. Successful analysts will be encouraged to take on greater responsibilities over time, enhancing their professional growth within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with colleagues to produce reports, presentations, and other materials.
  • Lead specific tasks within projects, contributing meaningful ideas and work productively with team members.
  • Write and develop articles, publications, and reports collaboratively.
  • Aid in the design of research strategies and methods on a project-by-project basis.
  • Proofread and copy-edit Institute documents and presentations.
  • Participate in and lead interviews with outside individuals relevant to Institute projects.
  • Conduct data analysis using applications such as STATA, Excel, and IMPLAN.
  • Process data and maintain the Institute's databases.
  • Provide support for Institute events and functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in economics, statistics, geography, public policy, or related fields.
  • 0-2 years of professional experience in analytical roles, including internships.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Well-developed analytical thinking.
  • Strong quantitative and statistical skills.
  • Highly adept with MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint; experience with STATA or other statistical programs is a plus.
