About the position

The Research Analyst plays a pivotal role in driving UF Advancement's fundraising success by delivering expert research and insights. This position operates with a high degree of independence, utilizing expertise to make informed decisions that directly support and elevate UF's philanthropic efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize a variety of reference materials, online databases, and governmental resources to obtain information on prospects or funding sources for gifts to the University.
  • Organize, analyze, and interpret accumulated information to assess financial capacity, philanthropic tendencies, and connections to UF.
  • Prepare thorough, accurate, and timely research deliverables on UF donors and prospects, including high-level overviews and in-depth profiles.
  • Develop a comprehensive knowledge of the donor database and work closely with Data Integrity to maintain database integrity.
  • Collaborate with Prospect Strategy & Research team members on proactive projects and long-term strategic planning for prospect identification.
  • Use available tools and software to identify prospects and assist with the qualification and cultivation of new prospects toward major gifts.
  • Review and monitor ongoing projects for Research Analysts and elevate any obstacles to appropriate leads for resolution.
  • Produce a monthly progress report for PSR leadership on the status and results of projects.
  • Assist PSR team members with data integrity portfolio updates as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization or equivalent combination of education and two years of relevant experience.
  • Related work experience in finance, legal, real estate, or education; experience in a non-profit organization is helpful.
  • Knowledge of philanthropy and prospect research is desirable.
  • Proficiency with electronic research techniques to gather in-depth information on potential and existing donors.
  • Familiarity with standard research resources such as the Internet, Lexis Nexis, iWave, DonorSearch, SEC Filings, and wealth screenings.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collegially with stakeholders.
  • Strong computer skills, with SQL being desirable, and experience with Microsoft Office suite.
