The Research Analyst will coordinate the development of data for special management, policy studies, and research activities. This includes analyzing industry developments and remaining current on significant initiatives. The role also involves designing, coordinating, and conducting research activities and statistical studies, as well as developing and maintaining databases that generate information for management decision-making and program evaluation. The analyst will participate in project teams for special studies, recommend solutions, and help train staff in departmental data processing tools. Additionally, the Research Analyst will create and maintain databases using various programming languages or user-oriented software, such as SPSS or SAS, and utilize micro-computer programs like Excel, Access, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint. The position requires the use of statistical methods to analyze management problems and policy implications, assisting evaluators in developing measurement tools. The analyst will also perform independent studies and searches on relevant subjects, develop partnerships with industrial sponsors to support the research mission, and coordinate efforts to develop large proposals for federal government funding. The role demands establishing a rapport with appropriate parties to facilitate engaging them in substantive research partnerships, understanding and promoting the research capabilities of the Institute, and establishing a resource network to identify and cultivate partners. The Research Analyst may also assist university departments by providing information for operational and strategic plans or accreditation reviews, and will establish and maintain office-based technology systems to aid in project administration. The position may involve delivering presentations and writing articles and technical reports.
