About the position

The Research Analyst position at the Office of Institutional Research and Analytics (OIRA) is a key role that involves collaborating with team members to present institutional data and execute research projects that address strategic questions for Harvard University. The Analyst will work under the direction of the Associate Director of Institutional Research for Reporting, engaging with various university clients on projects that include internal and external reporting and university-wide analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and report on data from a wide variety of sources.
  • Work with personnel across the University to collect and refine data.
  • Write scripts to help automate data and business processes.
  • Produce descriptive and inferential analyses under the direction of a senior analyst.
  • Present findings to audiences internal and external to the University.

Requirements

  • BA required, preferably in a quantitative field, along with at least one year of related experience.
  • Experience with multiple steps in the data lifecycle, including acquisition, cleaning, processing, analysis, documenting, validation, and visualization.
  • Knowledge of basic statistical methods and comfort working with quantitative and/or qualitative data.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Ability to use R for analyzing and visualizing data.
  • Experience with SQL and relational database design.
  • Familiarity with statistical packages such as R.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau.
