About the position

The Research Analyst position at Duke University School of Medicine involves conducting complex research studies, managing laboratory operations, and performing various biological experiments. Responsibilities

  • Perform cell and molecular biology experiments
  • Conduct physiological and behavioral tests in rodents and humans
  • Analyze data, prepare graphs and figures, and present results in meetings
  • Design experiments and write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Train laboratory personnel on general procedures
  • Perform and assist with surgeries, animal handling, transport, and care
  • Dissect rodents and process biological samples
  • Conduct advanced histology, biochemical assays, and biophysics experiments
  • Write IACUC and OESO protocols and maintain updated laboratory notebooks and research records

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to the specific position
  • Two years of experience in research/data analysis or a related position, or a Master's degree in lieu of experience
  • Knowledge and proficiency working with rodents
  • Experience with cell culture and molecular biology techniques
  • Proficiency in histology and microscopy
  • General computer software, data analysis, and reporting skills (e.g., MS Office, GraphPad, JMP, R, Matlab)
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to solve technical problems independently and collaboratively
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain documentation of laboratory procedures

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced molecular biology techniques
