About the position

The Research Analyst position at Hope College involves supporting the analysis and reporting of college data to various audiences, managing survey research conducted by student employees, and contributing to grant-related and collaborative research projects. This part-time role is grant-funded for three years, with the possibility of extension or conversion to a permanent position. The analyst will work closely with the Director of the Frost Center for Social Science Research and the Institutional Research Director, dedicating approximately 20 hours per week based on project needs.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in research projects completed by the Frost Research Center.
  • Provide training to others involved in research projects.
  • Develop and provide structured training programs to students working in the Frost Center Call Center.
  • Oversee research projects, including data collection, survey administration, data analysis, report preparation, and project management.
  • Participate in final editing of deliverables, assuring accuracy in data, analysis, professional appearance, and data privacy.
  • Support ongoing grant and collaborative research projects and activities.
  • Support Hope College faculty, staff, and students completing research that utilizes Frost Research Center tools.
  • Provide online and face-to-face training and support to Hope College faculty and staff members.
  • Train student research assistants and other staff to provide technical support.
  • Remain current with tools and knowledge related to Frost Center survey and research tools.
  • Respond to requests for data from internal stakeholders, consistent with college processes.
  • Provide clear, informative reports to college stakeholders in response to specific data requests.
  • Assist faculty and staff members with institutional data analysis and interpretation.
  • Participate in preparing college responses to national statistical surveys, questionnaires, and other requests for information.
  • Provide data in support of the college's planning, assessment, and decision-making activities.
  • Develop accurate and consistent self-service data tools, reports, and summaries.
  • Participate in relevant consortia and professional organizations, and training to remain current in skills and knowledge.
  • Annually complete CITI Training for human subjects or the refresher course, FERPA training, and Title IX training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences, statistics, or other discipline appropriate to the position with Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in a research, assessment, or planning environment.
  • Minimum of three years' experience working in higher education.
  • Demonstrated experience and advanced skills in statistical analysis and associated research and survey tools.
  • Strong time management, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical, writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in a team-based environment that requires working closely with professional staff, faculty members, and students.

Nice-to-haves

  • Preference for experience working with SQL, SSPS, SAS, R, and Tableau or other visualization tools.
