About the position

Chaffey College is seeking a Research and Data Solutions Analyst to perform statistical and analytical work associated with the collection, review, and distribution of information. Under supervision, the analyst will develop and maintain a learning/data analytics infrastructure for the campus, automate a learning analytics framework utilizing predictive modeling, and build front-end visualizations and data tools for the wider campus audience. This role involves providing data coaching at all levels of the institution to improve instruction, student, and administrative outcomes. The analyst will collaborate and consult with others on projects related to research design and data solutions, and will review levels of student preparation to support faculty in identifying expected knowledge, skills, and abilities from students at various course levels. The position also requires working collaboratively with instructional, Student Services, and administrative programs to design and conduct learning outcomes assessments, presenting assessment options to programs, and assisting in reporting and integrating findings. The analyst will develop research for evaluating instructional and student support programs, maintain project databases for analyzing program patterns and trends, and provide research support and technical assistance related to instructional and student services. Additionally, the analyst will prepare written reports that include tabular, graphic, and statistical contents, descriptions of analytical methods used, and narratives of results and conclusions. Conducting statistical, demographic, and empirical studies for the district's programs and services is also a key responsibility, along with designing and participating in studies to evaluate the effectiveness of various program research implementations. The analyst will attend research-related meetings, workshops, and conferences as appropriate and perform related duties as assigned. This position is essential for supporting the college's mission by ensuring data-driven decision-making and enhancing the educational experience for students.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a learning/data analytics infrastructure for the campus.
  • Develop and automate a learning analytics framework utilizing predictive modeling.

  • Provide data coaching at all levels of the institution on analyzing and interpreting data to improve instruction, student, and administrative outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution with an educational background in social behavioral sciences, statistics, or related field (preferably with emphasis on organizational or educational research).
  • Knowledge of research and design including standard statistical procedures related to sampling, correlation analysis, projections, instrument design, and qualitative measures applied to educational and social research.
  • One (1) year of experience in applying practical statistical and research methods.
  • One (1) year of experience working in a postsecondary education environment including direct contact with faculty, students, and administrative staff.
  • Demonstrated ability in using standard statistical software packages.
  • The ability to translate data into actionable information is essential.
  • Expertise in data management.
  • Expertise in predictive modeling and analytics.
  • Knowledge of visualization software and/or reporting-dashboard technology such as Tableau or R-Shiny.
  • Ability to collaborate with others and provide guidance on research and data and their implications for decision-making.
  • Demonstrated evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds in a community college environment.
