About the position
The intern position at Corning involves working with the Component Metrology Development team on an advanced metrology system. The role focuses on developing software features for automated validation and testing routines to characterize the statistical performance of the metrology system, utilizing hardware, Python, and C++ desktop applications.
Responsibilities
- Develop software features for automated validation and testing routines.
- Characterize statistical performance of the metrology system.
- Work with hardware components such as cameras and motors.
- Participate in social and networking opportunities.
- Engage in weekly tech talks and community involvement.
Requirements
- Pursuing a degree in a STEM field, including computer science, software engineering, or computer engineering.
- Experience with software development in Python.
- Capability of writing robust maintainable code, unit and integration tests, and familiarity with Git.
- Availability for 10 weeks during Summer 2025 (May-August 2025) with a graduation date of December 2025 or later.
- Interest in working for Corning, Inc after graduation.
Nice-to-haves
- Familiarity with Python numerical and scientific libraries such as pyqt6, Numpy, Scipy, Skimage, pandas, OpenCV.
- Understanding of Statistics, Fourier transforms, and orthogonal polynomials.
