About the position

The Research & Extension Program Support Coordinator (Health Equity) plays a vital role in supporting the Senior Research Associate and State Health Equity Specialist at the College of Agriculture, Community, and Sciences. This position focuses on assisting with various research and extension activities aimed at promoting health equity. The coordinator will engage in research activities, manage travel arrangements, maintain records, and support outreach efforts, particularly with local high schools.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Senior Research Associate & State Health Equity Specialist with Research and Extension activities.
  • Provide research support including proposal editing, researching funding opportunities, conducting literature reviews, and performing statistical and policy analysis.
  • Keep a calendar for related events and make travel arrangements.
  • Research pricing for supplies and equipment, create and process requisitions.
  • Assist in student outreach events with local high schools.
  • Perform typing assignments, operate a personal computer for data entry, and draft various documents.
  • Interact daily with the public, KSU students, staff, and faculty.
  • Create and distribute correspondence, reports, and other documents.
  • Proof and edit letters and success stories, and enter program contacts into the Kentucky Reporting System (KERS).
  • Assist in creating and maintaining publications for community partners.
  • Perform data entry and maintain files, databases, and record retention.
  • Maintain budgets and accounts, and process requisitions and travel arrangements.
  • Travel for meetings and trainings, including in-state and out-of-state travel for professional development.
  • Instruct and supervise student employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree with two or more related years of experience.
  • Experience with and knowledge of Health Equity disparities.
  • Experience and knowledge of submitting research proposals for federal, state, and related agencies.
  • Ability to travel in-state and out-state, with some overnight travel required.
  • Organizing and coordinating skills.
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
  • Knowledge of ordering supplies, equipment, and/or services and inventory control.
  • Word processing and/or data entry skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain calendars and schedule appointments.
  • Records maintenance skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to perform simple accounting procedures.
  • Skill in using basic office equipment.
  • Receptionist skills.
