About the position

The Research and Innovation Coordinator at the Carle Illinois College of Medicine provides essential program coordination and administrative support for strategic research initiatives. This role serves as a liaison between the college and various stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration to advance research and outreach efforts. The coordinator is responsible for managing operational processes, coordinating events, and supporting grant-funded projects, all while fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion within the college and the broader community.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as liaison and primary point of contact connecting the college with university stakeholders and external partners.
  • Manage daily operational processes and coordinate projects for the administrative unit.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate logistics for programs, events, and initiatives from concept to completion.
  • Collaborate with marketing to manage content on websites and create promotional materials.
  • Support efforts to identify and recruit faculty mentors for student research opportunities.
  • Plan and implement outreach activities to engage industry partners in collaboration with the Advancement office.
  • Advise and provide specialized support to unit leaders and stakeholders.
  • Monitor and respond to action items to ensure programs are moving forward effectively.
  • Develop and maintain a database of program and participant data.
  • Support grant-funded projects by managing activities and developing reports to funding agencies.
  • Serve as liaison to faculty and students regarding Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of work experience in higher education, research, humanities, healthcare, or a similar area.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, organization, and execution of events.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to cultivate collaborative relationships.
  • Ability to think creatively and problem-solve effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and maintain attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a research or academic environment.
  • Familiarity with grant management processes.
  • Knowledge of medical education standards.
