About the position

The Research and Planning Manager at Multnomah County's Department of Community Justice is responsible for leading research initiatives, program evaluations, and data analysis to inform decision-making in the criminal justice field. This role involves setting the research agenda, overseeing project management, and ensuring the dissemination of findings to stakeholders. The position requires strong leadership skills, strategic planning, and the ability to foster relationships within the community and among various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to senior management in setting the departmental research agenda.
• Oversee research/evaluation project design, implementation, analyses, and publication.
• Present findings at local, national, and internal conferences and/or workshops.
• Develop, collect, and report performance measures, contract outcomes, and other important measures for DCJ services.
• Make policy, practice, and operational recommendations based on evaluation and research findings.
• Provide high-level technical oversight and direction to staff in research design, data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Requirements

• 3 years of experience in professional administration and supervision, applied research or program evaluation, quality management/quality assurance, or related fields.
• Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice, quality assurance, social science research and evaluation, psychology, social work, or advanced statistics.
• Must pass a thorough background investigation.

Nice-to-haves

• 5 years of experience in professional administration and supervision, applied research or program evaluation, quality management/quality assurance, or related fields.
• Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in relevant fields.
• Experience with rapid research designs to provide feedback on programmatic changes.
• Experience with criminal justice or law enforcement agencies.
