About the position

The Research and Planning Specialist at Copper Mountain Community College plays a crucial role in supporting the District's research agenda under the direction of the Superintendent/President. This position involves a variety of responsibilities related to the preparation and reporting of research findings. The specialist will assist in data collection, review, and research, developing queries or programs to process data effectively. Analyzing data using statistical software is a key component of the role, as is the development of written reports and oral presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders. This position is structured as a full-time role, requiring 40 hours of work per week throughout the year, with the possibility of remote work for highly qualified candidates. The specialist will conduct various studies for both instructional and non-instructional programs and services within the District. Responsibilities include inputting, formatting, and reporting institutional information, as well as running necessary statistical analyses. The role also involves collecting and inputting diverse data, including the development of surveys using scannable publishing software or online tools. Maintaining accurate and confidential data files in both hard copy and electronic formats is essential. In addition to data management, the specialist will prepare tables, charts, and graphs using Excel, PowerPoint, or other statistical software, and will be responsible for writing and editing materials for presentations and publications. The ability to interpret, synthesize, and analyze data using scientific or statistical techniques is critical. The specialist will also modify and plan research procedures, test survey instruments, and report on the status of research activities. Preparing presentations tailored to the District's needs and assisting in research design while applying appropriate computer tools and statistical measures are also part of the job. The specialist may serve on committees and attend events or meetings to represent the District and provide information as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts a variety of studies for both instructional and non-instructional programs and services for the District.
  • Inputs, formats, and reports institutional information; runs statistical analysis as necessary.
  • Collects and inputs a variety of data, including survey development using scannable publishing software or online tools.
  • Conducts literature research; reviews and maintains current research literature.
  • Maintains accurate and confidential data files in both hard copy and electronic format.
  • Prepares a variety of tables, charts and graphs in Excel, PowerPoint, or other statistical software; writes and edits material, including drafts of material and data for presentations and/or publications.
  • Interprets, synthesizes, and analyzes data using scientific or statistical techniques.
  • Modifies and plans research procedures; tests or surveys instruments.
  • Reports on status of research activities.
  • Prepares presentations for District needs.
  • Assists in research design and applies appropriate computer tools, statistical measures and data collection techniques.
  • May serve on committees.
  • May attend events and meetings to supply information and/or represent the District.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience in research methodology and statistical analysis.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software and tools, such as Excel and statistical software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for report writing and presentations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive data.
  • Experience in survey development and data collection techniques.
