About the position

The Research and Quality Scientist position at the Minnesota Department of Health involves leading quality and process improvement initiatives within the Public Health Laboratory. Responsibilities

• Lead quality and process improvement initiatives in the laboratory.
• Perform internal audits and non-conformance investigations.
• Monitor quality indicators and metrics.
• Research, develop, validate, verify, and implement molecular methods to detect and characterize pathogens.
• Conduct complex testing of clinical specimens.
• Guide technical, workflow, and quality improvement activities.
• Train staff on new assays and techniques.

Requirements

• Three years of scientific research experience or professional laboratory experience with molecular testing.
• Ability to contribute to research plans for grant applications and progress reports.
• Experience with validation and verification of new tests and instruments.
• Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, medical technology, molecular biology, genetics and cell biology, or a related science.
• Completion of a minimum of 60 semester/90 quarter college credits including specific coursework in medical laboratory technology or science.
