About the position

KBR is seeking a highly motivated and career-oriented Research and Technology Protection Lead to join our team in Bethesda, MD. This position is critical in formulating and evaluating research initiatives and activities that align with our strategic goals. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough security reviews to ensure compliance with established protocols and standards. Additionally, the role involves developing comprehensive Risk Assessment documents that identify security, counter-intelligence, and protection requirements necessary for safeguarding our research and technology assets. The Research and Technology Protection Lead will also be tasked with performing Performer Vulnerability Assessments, which include evaluating the level of foreign ownership or influence, analyzing business activities, and addressing any financial concerns that may arise. Another key responsibility is to develop and update Export Control Assessments that clearly identify actual deliverables, ensuring that all research and technology outputs comply with relevant export regulations and guidelines. This position requires a deep understanding of the intelligence community (IC) and the ability to navigate complex security landscapes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in information technology or a related field, coupled with extensive experience in program security guidance documentation. The role demands the ability to abstract complex ideas from data gathered from multiple sources and to effectively communicate these ideas to senior leaders and research and development (R&D) program managers.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate and evaluate research initiatives and activities

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Information Technology or related field
  • 10+ years working within the Intelligence Community (IC)
  • Experience developing program security guidance documentation (original and derivative)
  • Experience developing abstract complex ideas from data from multiple sources
  • Experience interacting with Senior leaders and R&D program managers
  • Knowledge of information system security requirements and procedures

Nice-to-haves

  • Doctorate Degree
  • 15+ years experience within the IC
  • Ability to interview R&D managers to build program guidance
  • Direct experience with technology R&D and emerging technology analysis
  • Active TS/SCI w/CI Poly security clearance
