Responsibilities
- Develop strategies to enhance the efficiency of cattle production systems.
- Reduce potential environmental risks associated with beef and dairy production and manure use.
- Participate in all phases of research within a broad area requiring systematic studies.
- Research the effects of feed additives and ingredients on enteric greenhouse gas emissions by feedlot cattle.
- Assist in quantifying greenhouse gas and ammonia emissions from feedlot surfaces and soils amended with manure.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship or National status is required.
- Degree in animal science, dairy science, poultry science, or a related field with specific coursework in biological and agricultural sciences and animal science.
- At least 10 semester hours in animal science courses related to livestock management and production.
- Specialized experience in animal nutrition or enteric methane emissions, with a focus on research and data analysis.
Nice-to-haves
- Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a related field.
- Experience publishing research findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- Familiarity with greenhouse gas emissions and environmental impacts of cattle production.
