The Research Assistant 3 (A) at the University of Miami plays a crucial role in exploring innovations in research and enhancing implementation and family outcomes. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with university policies, as well as federal, state, and local regulations related to safety and ethics. The Research Assistant will plan and implement research experiments according to established protocols, ensuring high-quality scientific results that align with project goals. This role involves assessing the feasibility of implementing new innovations, analyzing data trends, and developing comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate findings effectively. In addition to these core responsibilities, the Research Assistant will support the initiation of new research projects by reviewing and synthesizing relevant literature. They will oversee the inventory of supplies and equipment, ensuring timely orders are placed to maintain research operations. The role also includes assisting in the preparation of scientific papers, reports, and manuscripts, while adhering to university and departmental policies to safeguard university assets. Specifically, this position will support a research study within the College of Nursing, which involves recruiting participants, collecting data, and managing data under the supervision of faculty members. The Research Assistant may be required to work at various locations, including Miami Dade and Broward counties. Responsibilities include screening potential participants for eligibility, coordinating and scheduling interviews, completing informed consent processes, and collecting data through questionnaires. The role also involves delivering interventions, organizing data collection supplies, abstracting data from medical records, and performing lab procedures for biological specimen collection. Accurate data entry and tracking of participant information are essential, along with regular communication with other research team members and participation in weekly project meetings. The Research Assistant will ensure that data is maintained in the proper format as required by the study sponsor and generate project reports for supervisors or study coordinators.

Responsibilities

  • Enters data into study databases such as Qualtrics and RedCap.
  • Prepares study materials and follows up with participants via phone or email.
  • Maintains accurate records through daily data entry and tracking of participant data.
  • Communicates with other research team members and participates in weekly project meetings.
  • Ensures data are maintained in proper format as required by study sponsor.
  • Generates project reports for the supervisor or study coordinator.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in a health-related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant research experience required.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle diverse tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Creative thinking, self-direction, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work closely and communicate effectively with multiple nursing faculty.
  • Familiarity with programs such as Excel, Redcap, and Qualtrics.
