About the position

The Research Assistant position at Rutgers University involves providing daily research support within the Center for Molecular & Behavioral Neuroscience (CMBN). The role focuses on administering neuropsychological tests, managing data for multiple projects, and assisting with various administrative tasks related to research protocols. This position is integral to advancing the understanding of brain function and structure through neuroscience research and training, particularly in urban and minority communities.

Responsibilities

  • Administer neuropsychological tests to human subjects
  • Manage and report data for multiple projects
  • Manage databases and subject files
  • Screen and schedule research subjects
  • Handle sensitive information regarding subject participation
  • Manage student workers in the lab
  • Communicate key updates at lab meetings
  • Assist the Lab Manager with IRB Continuing Review applications and preparation of lab documents
  • Comply with procedures, policies, and processes of the Laboratory, CMBN, SASN, and Rutgers University

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific/technical discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience in conducting and/or managing human behavioral research
  • Experience with administering neuropsychological assessments
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to interface with the public, especially older African Americans
  • Willingness to be trained to collect saliva samples and take participants' weight, height, and blood pressure
  • Willingness to be trained to run a Polysomnography (PSG) device

Nice-to-haves

  • Graduate degree
  • Experience in writing research protocols, grants, and scientific publications

  • Salary range of $42,000 - $47,000 per year
