About the position

The Research Assistant/Analyst position at the University of Utah involves coordinating, preparing, reviewing, and compiling specialized financial, medical, research, and demographic information to facilitate analysis, management review, or reporting requirements. This role is essential in supporting research projects within the Department of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, contributing to the overall academic mission of U of U Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting and compiling data from various sources, which may include entering data into a computer terminal. The position requires statistical analysis of data, including calculating means, medians, standard deviations, and performing multiple regression analyses, among other statistical computations. Additionally, the Research Assistant/Analyst may edit research papers, project reports, proposals, and curriculum materials prior to publication or presentation. The role also involves preparing the final disposition of data and maintaining an internal library of project information resources and final data collected. Collaboration with research personnel in the design and preparation of research projects and in recording data is also a key aspect of this position. The work environment is primarily office-based, with physical requirements that include nearly continuous sitting, hearing, listening, and talking, along with occasional repetitive hand motions such as typing and walking. This full-time position is expected to work standard hours of 30-40 hours per week during the day shift, contributing to a dynamic team focused on impactful research in the medical field.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and compile data from a variety of sources.

  • Plot scatter grams and perform multiple regression analysis.
  • Edit research papers, project reports, proposals, and curriculum materials prior to publication or presentation.

  • Record data accurately and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Social or Behavioral Science, Liberal Arts, or a related field.
  • One year of experience in research and analytical techniques.
  • Demonstrated statistical and quantitative analysis experience.
  • Strong human relation and effective communication skills.
