About the position

The Research Assistant for the Asia Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace will support a project focused on South Korea's industrial policy, technology innovation, and national power. This part-time, remote position is expected to last approximately twelve months and involves conducting research to assess how South Korea's strategic use of industrial policy and technological advancements contributes to its economic resilience and geopolitical influence.

Responsibilities

  • Support literature reviews related to South Korea's industrial policy and technology innovation.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research, including compiling data on economic and industry trends.
  • Organize expert interviews and meetings to facilitate project execution.
  • Perform administrative tasks as assigned to support the project.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Ability to perform interdisciplinary research and analysis.
  • Native or near-native proficiency in English and Korean.
  • Reading knowledge of Japanese or Chinese is a plus.
  • Familiarity with South Korea's foreign policy or political economy.
