About the position

The Part-Time Research Assistant position at the University of Miami is a vital role within the AMP-IT-UP reading program team, which is dedicated to addressing reading challenges faced by middle school students, particularly those with or at risk for reading disabilities. This hourly position is set to commence on March 1, 2024, and will continue until December 30, 2024. The pay for this role is $18.00 per hour, with the number of hours being intermittent and subject to change on a weekly basis based on the needs of the schools involved in the program. As a key team member, the Research Assistant will participate in training sessions aimed at achieving a high level of interrater compliance (95%) in the implementation of standardized assessments. The role involves directly administering these assessments to middle school students, coordinating assessment schedules, and representing the program at various meetings and community events. The Research Assistant will also be responsible for ensuring that all data collection protocols are followed meticulously and for organizing timely and accurate data reporting using program data systems, such as Excel. In addition to these responsibilities, the Research Assistant will be required to travel to different schools to conduct assessments, provide weekly updates on program and assessment progress to their supervisor, and attend program meetings. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, as the role may require working during mornings, afternoons, evenings, and occasionally on Saturdays. Other duties may be assigned as needed to support the program's objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in training of how to implement standardized assessments to an interrater compliance of 95%.
  • Implement standardized assessments to middle school students with and at-risk for reading disabilities.
  • Assist with coordinating all assessment schedules.
  • Represent the program professionally at meetings and community events.
  • Ensure all aspects of data collection of the protocol are being implemented rigorously.
  • Organize timely and accurate data reporting in program data systems such as Excel.
  • Travel to schools to conduct assessments.
  • Provide weekly program and assessment updates to supervisor and attend program meetings.
  • Work flexible schedule which includes mornings, afternoons, evenings, and some Saturdays.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Experience with standardized assessment implementation.
  • Must have a valid Florida driver's license.
