About the position

The Research Assistant/Associate I or II in Immunology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham is a full-time role focused on investigating the molecular and biological mechanisms of innate immunity and adaptive immune responses in various diseases. The position involves performing a variety of scientific tasks under supervision, including laboratory experiments and data management, while providing opportunities to learn advanced cellular and molecular techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of scientific tasks under general supervision.
  • Conduct routine to complex calculations as needed by the Principal Investigator.
  • Collect, record, and organize data using standard methodologies.
  • Maintain lab equipment and inventory levels of supplies.
  • Assist with and/or perform technical animal procedures.
  • Learn and apply cellular and molecular techniques including culture of primary lymphocytes and established cell lines, flow cytometry, cloning, cDNA expression, RNAi manipulation, and biochemical analyses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field upon starting the position.
  • Research laboratory experience.
  • Experience with Western blot techniques.
  • Clinical research experience.
  • Cell culture experience.
  • General laboratory experience.
