About the position

The Research Assistant, Cancer Prevention and Control Program will assist with behavioral research projects in cancer prevention and control, including the DEMI-MRI (Developing a Multilevel Decision Support Intervention for Screening Breast MRI) study. The research assistant will support the enrollment of participants into research studies, including recruitment, screening patients for eligibility, and ongoing contact with participants to optimize retention. The employee will also be involved in preparing participant materials, data collection, data entry, data tracking, maintaining files, and conducting quality assurance. Excellent oral and written communication skills and attention to detail/organizational skills are essential. Ability to function as a member of a team in an interdisciplinary research environment and interface with outside collaborators is also critical. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cancer research and contribute to vital scientific advancements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's-degree in behavioral and health sciences (e.g., psychology, public health, pre-professional, social sciences), or a related field
  • Previous experience as part of a research team in an academic setting (0-2 years preferred)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask

Nice-to-haves

  • Enrolled in a post-baccalaureate or graduate program in a relevant field (e.g., public health, etc.)
  • Experience with clinical research (e.g., gathering informed consent, interacting with participants/patients, collecting data, etc.)
  • Experience with REDCap or other electronic data capture systems
  • Knowledge of regulatory guidelines for clinical research (e.g., HIPAA)
  • Training in ethical conduct of human subject's research (e.g., CITI Training)
  • Skills in clinical trial data management using electronic platforms (e.g., OnCore)
  • Interest in cancer-related and/or behavioral health-related topics
