About the position

The Research Assistant at Georgetown University plays a crucial role in supporting faculty and learner research projects within the Center for Health Equity and the Department of Family Medicine. This position involves managing multiple ongoing research projects, contributing to research design, and assisting with various administrative tasks to enhance research infrastructure and capacity building activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist faculty and learner research projects and support research infrastructure activities.
  • Serve as the primary project manager for multiple ongoing research projects.
  • Supervise work-study students and medical school, graduate, and undergraduate student interns.
  • Contribute to research design, IRB applications, data analysis, and dissemination of study results.
  • Support the Center for Health Equity Advisory Committee and subcommittees with scheduling, event planning, and report preparation.
  • Coordinate research activities including health-services research and medical education research.
  • Develop, edit, and prepare grant proposals and supporting documentation for research funding agencies.
  • Procure and manage inventory of research and office supplies.
  • Coordinate subcontractor and vendor invoices, payments, and contracts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in health or science-related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of research experience as a student, including coursework or research administration.
  • Certified Research Administration designation is helpful.
  • Strong analytical background with excellent communication, writing, and editing skills.
  • Knowledge of grants.gov, REDCap, SPSS, Endnotes, Word, and Excel.
  • Understanding of research methods, human research subjects protection, and Good Clinical Practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with federal, foundation, and private industry-sponsored research funding agencies.
  • Familiarity with FDA regulations, OMB Uniform Guidance, and NIH funding guidelines.
